How to control your week of food

Review the week ahead

Think about what your week ahead will look like. Where are you working? What kind of foods will be available to you during your working week? Will the foods around you this week be nutrient dense and conducive to your goals? If the answer is yes then great, divide your day of calories and macros and choose the meals that fit. If not, then you need to think about where your meals will come from.

Being realistic

We need to be realistic with our preparation. Which meals do you need and what will be easy to prepare.

Do you usually eat breakfast? Would it be sweet or savory? How many snacks will you need for the day? Do you prefer to snack on fruit or nuts? Do you prefer a sweet snack? If so, what are some low calorie options that fit into your calories and macros for the day?

Do you cook in bulk? or do you buy foods you can grab and throw them together i.e salads for lunch.

Prepare the meals you can

If your work or social schedules are busy, prepare the meals you can. If not, review the menus available to you and choose the best option for you. Leaner meats/ fish with vegetables or salads if you are in a fat loss phase are usually a good way to go. If you are vegetarian or vegan something vegetable heavy would be a good option rather than a meal with a high fat content. If you are unsure, we can look at options together to ensure you feel comfortable, confident and able to enjoy yourself without feeling guilty.

Create a shopping list

If you are prepping your meals or using a meal prep company, think about the foods you like to eat on daily basis that also fit in with your goals.

Create a shopping list, and keep this list handy for the coming weeks when you can swap some foods out for some variety.
